HONG KONG (SE): The Diocesan Pastoral Commission for Marriage and Family Affairs invited people to honour the medical personnel, who bravely save lives on the frontlines of the battle against the Covid-19 coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), by posting messages of appreciation on its Facebook page. The commission aims to convey the messages of support and care to the health care workers during the pandemic.
Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Ha Chi-shing delivered a message of encouragement via YouTube on April 9 saying: “Medical personnel now stand on the foremost frontline and are making efforts to save lives. We thank you wholeheartedly and hope that you can protect yourselves properly. We would like to extend our encouragement to you and pray for you. We deeply hope that our merciful God can bring you strength, comfort and become your guard.”
The bishop said the pandemic has made people understand that life is valuable but fragile, and every confirmed case and death involves the suffering of a family, making people feel sad.
“The pandemic has showed us that one is not only responsible for one’s own life but also of the lives of others,” the bishop said.
The pastoral commission urged people to leave messages until April 30. Nearly 100 people had left messages within a few days of the start of the campaign, thanking medical personnel and cleaning workers in hospitals for their selfless contributions and praying for them.
Those who wish to leave messages can visit the Facebook page of the campaign at https://www.facebook.com/1045041972236617/posts/3571395382934584/
