Birthright Society holds annual general meeting

HONG KONG (SE): The Birthright Society held its 48th Annual General Meeting on 28 December 2020 at Caritas House, Caine Road. Present at the gathering was John Cardinal Tong, the apostolic administrator of Hong Kong, who conveyed the appreciation and encouragement of the diocese to the society for the services it provides to the vulnerable. 

He encouraged them to continue to follow the teaching of Jesus to care for the small, the weak and the needy.

The Birthright Society has been working closely with Caritas-Hong Kong on Project Hyacinth which helps prevent abortions among vulnerable young women below the age of 24. In 2020, 211 new cases were taken on and a number of training programmes were organised for them.

Dr. Peter Au Yeung, the chairperson of the society, reported that 37 cases were handled throught he Caritas Family Service.
