Feast of Ss. Peter and Paul an occasion to pray for the pope

HONG KONG (SE): The Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong and the Holy See Study Mission will jointly host a musical offering along with a concelebrated Mass to mark the feast of Ss. Peter and Paul, and to pray for Pope Francis, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception at 5.00pm on June 27. 

According to Monsignor Javier Herrera Corona, the head of the Study Mission, “it is an occasion to pray for and pay homage to Pope Francis, as well as to pray for deliverance from the pandemic. This year’s event consists of a solemn Eucharistic Celebration preceded by a musical offering” with the theme: Trust in the Lord.

Vox Antiqua, a Catholic choir in Hong Kong, will perform a 35 minute-long musical offering before the 6.00pm Mass.

The prayer gathering in honour of the pope has become an annual event, jointly hosted by the Study Mission and the diocese as an occasion for the faithful of the city to express their affection for the pope and to pray for him. 

This year’s event was originally scheduled for 13 December 2020 on the occasion of the 84th birthday of Pope Francis. However, due to the need to comply with measures to combat with Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic, the event was rescheduled to the Sunday closest to the feast of
Ss. Peter and Paul.
