New executive committee for Association of Major Superiors

HONG KONG (SE): At the annual general meeting of the Association of Major Superiors of Religious Women in Hong Kong on November 6, Sister Joanna Marie Cheung of the Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres [SPC] was elected as its new chairperson for the 2021 to 2203 term. 

A new executive committee was also elected, comprising:  

Executive Committee members for 2021-2023: Sister Virginia Wong Pui-ling of the Canossian Daughters of Charity [FDCC], first vice-chairperson;  Sister Maria Teresa Li Siu-yung of the Chinese Sisters of the Immaculate Conception [CIC], second vice-chairperson and secretary, Chinese; Sister Agnes Au Yi-man of the Sisters of the Precious Blood [SPC], treasurer; Sister Michelle Reynolds of the Maryknoll Sisters [MM], secretary, English.

Established in accordance with Canon 709, the association has representatives from every community of women religious in the city, except enclosed contemplative institutes. It aims to promote closer collaboration between all religious congregations in the diocese. Each congregation collaborates in the mission of the Church while being rooted in the constitutions, vision, mission and charism of each community, under the guidance of the Holy See and the diocese.
