HONG KONG (SE): The Maryknoll Father’s School, Tai Hang Tung, celebrated its School Founders’ Memorial and Graduation Mass on May 14. Father Joseph McCabe, the Asia Regional Superior of the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, presided.

Before the Mass, Father McCabe also blessed a mural, painted by 17 of the students in January, under the guidance of visual arts teachers and with funding and support from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Art & Well-being Schools’ Mural Project.

The mural depicts school life guided by the Holy Spirit with the blessings from the Holy Mother. It contains many symbols representing God’s love and a rewarding school life.

In his homily, Father McCabe spoke of the life of Blessed [now Saint] Titus Brandsma, the Dutch martyr who died in the Dachau concentration camp, and was canonised on May 15. His faith witness was a living example of truth and loyalty.

A few days later, during the morning assembly on May 20, the May Crowning was held honouring the Blessed Virgin Mary.

A student representative placed a crown of roses on the statue of Our Lady, while staff and class representatives offered flowers as the Ave Maria was sung.
