HONG KONG (SE/KKP): Diocesan priest Father Peter Tsoi Ming-tung passed away in Queen Mary Hospital on January 2 after being infected with Covid-19. He was 89-years-old.
He was born in Lufeng County, Guangdong Province. His sister died before his birth, and he was the only son in his family. After graduating high school, he came to Hong Kong in 1949 for work. He entered the Minor Seminary of the Diocese of Hong Kong in 1953 and then the South China General Seminary in 1957.
Bishop Lorenzo Bianchi ordained him a priest in 1964, and he served in different parishes for two decades. In 1983, he moved to New York to serve the Chinese-speaking community. After returning to Hong Kong 17 years later, in 2000, he served Star of the Sea parish in Chai Wan for two years. He later retired from parish work and moved to St. Joseph’s Home for the Aged in Ngau Chi Wan.
