Alleluia! The crucified Lord is risen! Thank you Lord Jesus for the gift of salvation for we have become Easter people.
Jesus defeated all the pains and bruises of betrayal, denial, humiliation even the suffering and death on the Cross. Jesus defeated the darkness of the tomb of sin and death to the light of his glory.
Easter is the greatest celebration of faith as Jesus’ resurrection surpasses all doubts and disbeliefs showing that Jesus is indeed the God of the living and not of the dead.
We may have different stories of Easter in our lives. There are times when we doubt Jesus’ existence especially if we are experiencing life’s tribulations and like the doubting Thomas all we can utter is, “My Lord and my God” when Jesus reveals his faithfulness to us.
I strongly believe in the power of love for it is out of great love that Jesus willingly die the cruel way on the Cross to be nailed.
Jesus has helped us to defeat the darkness of sickness and fear during the pandemic. On Easter Sunday the churches were full and no more physical distancing. Young and old just filled the church, as if we felt there is a sense of life. Unlike during Covid isolation which was too much and the silence was deafening.
Some may still wear mask but some not. I really could feel the ambiance of Easter. The fear is slowly overcome by trust. Our hopes sprout in visible joy as life is back on track. People just missed the normal way of life.
After the Mass we celebrated Easter with my family in the farm. We had great and quality time together. We are happy feeding our farm animals like chicken, ducks, cows and carabao with our fur pet. Simple as that but we are happy and there is a sense of peace in our hearts and minds.
As we celebrate the 500 years of Christianity in the Philippines. The Chaplaincy to Filipino Migrants organises an on-line talk every Tuesday at 9.00pm. You can join us at:

The Easter homily of the priest resounds in my mind — we are all heralds of joy and hope and become witnesses of the risen Lord, living our faith not just by words but of acts of charity, love and compassion.
