Sharing the WYD experience online

(SE): On the YouTube channel of Fountain of Love and Life, a multi-media evangelisation ministry, Justin, a Chinese delegate from Canada, shared his daily challenges and reflections during the WYD.

His videos showed various activities he and his team were involved in during their pilgrimage to Spain and Portugal, dancing in different gatherings and waiting in line for four hours with a thousand people before a talk.

During their pilgrimage to Fatima, Justin described walking on his knees on gravel without pads. The pain helped him to recall the suffering of Jesus and the willingness of the Blessed Virgin Mary to respond to God. “I told myself I had to look up to God. Despite my physical pain, I finally walked with joy,” he said.

His experiences with these challenges taught him that prayer is important for facing trials. As young people from all over the world chanted in different languages, “This is the pope’s youth,” he said, he felt exhilarated. During the Way of the Cross on August 4, pilgrims were also reminded that painful experiences only serve as instruction rather than punishment.
