Sister Capobianco returns to the Lord

HONG KONG (SE): The Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate [PIME Sisters] mourned the loss of Sister Teresa Capobianco, who passed away at around 3.00am on March 8 in Monza, Italy.

She was born in Gaeta, Italy, on 18 July 1948, and was baptised with the name Antonietta. She joined the congregation in 1967 and professed her first vows on 27 September 1970, followed by her perpetual vows on 11 September 1977.

After receiving her teaching diploma, Sister Capobianco left Italy on 9 May 1983 to fulfill her mission in Hong Kong, China. In 1998, she was transferred back to Rome, to serve at the general motherhouse of the congregation.

After returning to Hong Kong in 2001, Sister Capobianco began to suffer from serious health issues. Despite her illness, she continued her pastoral work with a kind smile. However, as her condition worsened, she had to leave Hong Kong and return to Italy in December 2022 for treatment. Unfortunately, her doctors could only provide her with palliative care as her health continued to deteriorate. For the past few weeks, she was bedridden until she passed away peacefully after a few days of suffering.

During her nearly 40 years of missionary service in Hong Kong, Sister Capobianco served in Kam Tin, Tai Po, Lei Muk Shue, Fanling and Tsing Yi.

A requiem Mass will be celebrated on March 18 at 8:00pm at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Tsing Yi.
