Farewell to beloved advisor Sister Lito

Farewell to beloved advisor Sister Lito
Sister Regina Lito presented recognition awards to community members.

On June 16, St. Jude’s Church English Community held a farewell party for Sister Regina Lito PDDM, their spiritual advisor for the past three years. The event, themed “Go, tell everyone, the news that God’s kingdom has come,” also recognised community members for their service.

The celebration was filled with music, dance, and heartfelt messages to show gratitude from friends of Sister Lito and guests from various parishes and for her contributions.

Father Jay Flandez, the chaplain of the Filipino chaplaincy, blessed Sister Lito, and various groups presented songs, dances, and even a poem praising her qualities. Father Flandez and Rizza Manalo sang a duet dedicated to Sister Lito as their surprise performance, gaining a loud clap of applause. Father Fabio Favata pime made an effort to learn a Filipino song which he sang to the delight of the audience. Sister Mary Cordero OSF took to the stage together with the English choir members as they spoke the qualities of Sister Lito using the alphabets of her name and read a poem tailored for her.

Sister Lito expressed her gratitude to the community members for their support and encouraged them to “be humble, keep on learning, discover your potentials, serve and give the best of yourself for the Lord, for yourself and the people of God.” She thanked Father Timothy Wan for letting her accompany the English-speaking community in the parish.

Leaving behind a legacy of spiritual guidance and intercultural, Sister Lito is returning to the Philippines in early July to pursue further studies in Liturgy. She will also be the coordinator of the Liturgical Centre of her congregation in Quezon City and a counselor of her community at the same time.

She will be replaced by Theresa Cheung, a lay missionary sister. SE

A Missionary Sister in action

To be called by God is a grace
To serve faithfully the human race
To seek the face of Jesus in every place
And his divine will that needs to embrace.

An amazing Sister like you is a treasure
Serving the Church is a great pleasure
Your spiritual guidance, no one can measure
It is engraved in the heart that is pure.

Yes, you are a missionary Sister in action
Caring this community with inspiration
You are a living witness of God’s compassion
May the light of Jesus shine upon your mission.
