
MANILA (RVA News): Bishop Teodoro Buhain Jr., former general manager of Radio Veritas Asia [RVA] and retired auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Manila, the Philippines, passed away on November 13, at the age of 87, at Cardinal Santos Medical Centre in San Juan City.
Born on 4 August 1937, in Bacoor, Cavite, Bishop Buhain was ordained a priest on 21 December 1960. He was named auxiliary bishop of Manila in January 1983 and was ordained on 21 February 1983. He was known for his compassionate leadership, including roles as chairperson of the Cardinal Santos Hospital management committee and national coordinator for the Chinese Apostolate in the Philippines.
From 1981 to 1990, he served as general manager of RVA, helping the organisation reach communities in need across Asia. He later became president of the Philippine Church’s ZNN Radio Veritas-Global Broadcasting System, Inc. Bishop Buhain also served as the pastor of St. John the Baptist Church in Quiapo, Manila, until his retirement in 2003.
Bishop Buhain left behind a legacy of 41 years as a bishop and 63 years as a priest, making significant contributions to the spiritual and media landscapes of the Catholic Church in the Philippines. He is fondly remembered by those he served and worked alongside.
