God hates jealousy so much that he addressed the issue in the Ten Commandments telling us not to covet (Exodus 20:17). We are all God’s creation. He loves us all and we need not compare our blessings with those of others.
When we envy what others have, we rob ourselves of the joy and contentment we can find in the good things God has already given us. Envy exists in our hearts because we are not aware of our own gifts.
To help our faith grow, we must guard our hearts. If you find that you are unable to be happy over the success of others, be careful. Instead of focusing on what others have, ask God to remind you of the many blessings he has given you and how many of them are undervalued. Discipline yourself to thank God for the blessings of others and pray that he will continue to bless them.
