We need to turn aside from ceaseless activity
To find time to commune with the Almighty
To listen to his voice as he speaks quietly
That we may discern his will for you and me.
With myriad tasks to do we hurry and scurry
Often forgetting we need to pause and pray
Without spiritual vigor we easily grow weary
Become despondent, then fret and worry
When our plans fail and things get awry
We try to fix the mess using our own ability
Yet fail to realise that the cause of our misery
Is not making earnest prayer our top priority
Be still and realise that God is mighty
There is nothing too hard for him to carry
Tell him your heart’s desires and wait patiently
Abide with him and he will lead the way
Learn to trust the Lord your God completely
He will give you courage, hope and serenity
Confront the sneering giants with audacity
God will fight your battles and give you victory
