
HONG KONG (SE): Sister Mari Lucia Kim was elected the new superior general of the Daughters of St. Paul on October 1, during the congregation’s 12th general chapter, underway in Ariccia, Italy.
Born on 1 November 1965 in Mokpo, Korea. She has been a Daughter of St. Paul since 25 January 1995. She carried out various apostolic assignments and was general councilor from 2013-2019. Currently she serves as provincial superior of Korea.
The Daughters of St. Paul in Hong Kong, said in an email: “Into her hands, the Lord entrusts our communities, the people to whom we are sent as apostles of Jesus Christ, and all those who will encounter God through the fruitfulness of the Pauline charism. The capitular assembly places in her hands the desire for a profound renewal, for a ‘newness’ to explore and follow, for a fraternity to rediscover, for a gift to revive.”
They said, “We send Sister Mari Lucia Kim our congratulations and our prayers, in the certainty that the Lord will send Mother Thecla to be close to her and inspire her in the service of government.”
Pope Leo XIV met on the morning with the participants of the general chapter, AsiaNews reported. He said of Sister Kim, “Let us pray for her.”
The pope told them the heart of your apostolate” is “to proclaim and spread the Word, spending your life for the cause of the gospel following Jesus the Master and seeking ways, tools and languages so that everyone may know and follow the Lord.”
