Spiritual life amid holiday bustle

Spiritual life amid holiday bustle

In the midst of the holidays, I find quiet spiritual moments by taking time to stop, relax, and talk to God. These few minutes help me stay calm and grateful, reminding me of what truly matters in life. Simple prayers and quiet moments during this busy season make the holidays feel more meaningful.

Every morning, I thank God for keeping me safe throughout the night. My routine includes praying the rosary and meditating on its decades, as well as praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet. For me, the holiday season does not obstruct my spiritual life; it enriches it instead. Once my prayers are done, I engage with friends and family, and I listen to worship songs when I work alone to keep my connection with God alive and vibrant.

Being raised in a devout Catholic family means my spiritual life is ongoing and not dependent on the season. Daily prayers for wisdom, protection, and gratitude are always part of my routine. During the holidays, my family and I come together to pray the rosary and attend Mass, which strengthens our bonds and reminds us of our faith. I believe that when we put God first in all things, everything else falls into place, even during our celebrations.

I find it challenging during the holiday season with the pressure to meet expectations and attend events. Yet, I’ve learned to truly appreciate small moments of quiet. Waking up early to breathe deeply or taking a brief walk helps me reconnect with my faith. These practices remind me that holidays should also be about inner peace and gratitude, making me feel more present and grounded. Finding quiet moments during the holidays becomes an ongoing intention, letting me be gentle with myself and grateful for those times of stillness.

Amid the holiday festivities, I’ve discovered a sanctuary for my spirit. My Christian faith serves as a compass, guiding me through the bustling celebrations. I carve out quiet moments, often at dawn, to reflect on the true meaning of the season—the gift of love, hope, and joy. Each candle lit and prayer whispered deepens my connection with the divine, providing peace and nourishment for my soul.

For those of us working abroad and away from family, finding moments of quiet spirituality can be quite challenging. I prioritise my devotion by starting each day with prayer, reciting my morning offering and following it with the rosary. After my spiritual time, I focus on my daily tasks and make sure to connect with my loved ones, often inviting them to attend church together when possible. This helps foster our relationships and maintains our spiritual connection, which is especially vital during the holiday season.
