HONG KONG (SE): The Diocesan Pastoral Centre for Workers—Hong Kong Island organised a festive gathering for working mothers, in collaboration with Star of the Sea Church, Chai Wan, on February 6. The event allowed eight participants to learn how to make traditional turnip cake while deepening their understanding of Catholic faith. The gathering also included a visit to the church, fostering a sense of community and celebration as the Lunar New Year approached.

Additionally, at the end of January, the centre hosted a new year goods fair which attracted 36 families in need. Participants were able to purchase nearly 50 types of essential household and personal care items at subsidised prices. The event was designed to support families by providing affordable access to cleaning supplies, personal care products, and dry goods, along with festive gift bags and raffle prizes.

This initiative emphasised not only material assistance but also the importance of care and warmth, embodying the spirit of solidarity to individual families as they navigate life’s challenges.
