HONG KONG (SE): A Taizé meeting for young Asians in Hong Kong, themed “Messengers of Hope”, is being organised by the Taizé Community and the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong to mark the diocese‘s 80th anniversary.

Young people aged 18 to 35 from Hong Kong and abroad are invited to take part in a spiritual gathering centred on prayer, Bible reflections, workshops, and communal sharing. Local participants are also encouraged to serve as host families, providing accommodation for overseas guests.

Vicar general, Father Paul Kam Po-wai, encouraged young people to unite as “Messengers of Hope” by joining the event, which aims to inspire a renewal of hope within the pilgrim Church as the diocese celebrates its 80th anniversary, and to foster hope in daily life.

The event will take place from April 30 to May 3 at St. Benedict‘s Church in Sha Tin. Attendees will join prayers with Taizé brothers and Christians from various denominations. The programme features morning and evening prayers, Bible study, thematic workshops, small group sharing, and cultural exchange.

According to Father Kam, nearly 40 overseas participants have signed up as of late February. These pilgrims will arrive in Hong Kong on April 30. Accommodation for overseas participants will be provided by host families, churches, and schools. Host families are invited to join pilgrims for Mass or worship on May 3.
