April 11 2026, Prayer Vigil for Peace – Pope Leo XIV

(SE): People across the world joined Pope Leo XIV in praying the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary, both in person and remotely via livestream. Meditations were drawn from various Church Fathers, including St. Augustine of Hippo, St. John Chrysostom, and St. Ambrose of Milan. During the Rosary, participants from different continents lit candles using the flame from the Lamp of Peace in Assisi, which burns perpetually at the tomb of St. Francis of Assisi, according to Vatican News.

The pope thanked everyone present, as well as those praying from afar, for their prayers for peace. He noted that their prayers were an expression of the faith which, as Jesus reminded us, moves mountains. He began by recalling: “War divides; hope unites. Arrogance tramples upon others; love lifts up. Idolatry blinds us; the living God enlightens.”

Pope Leo exhorted: “Enough of the display of power! Enough of war! True strength,” rather he said, “is shown in serving life.”

The prayer vigil was announced by Pope Leo during his Easter Sunday Urbi et Orbi addressand was celebrated in St. Peter’s Basilica at 6:00pm Rome time.
