On November 23, Father Bernardo Cervellera, the assistant parish priest, and Sister Mary Thangapragasam led a pilgrimage for St. Teresa’s English Catechism Group, which included both children and adults. The group journeyed to Stanley, where they visited the Carmelite Monastery and St. Anne’s Church, receiving a warm welcome from Sister Frances and Cindy at the monastery, as well as Father Paulus Santoso and Brother Susith Perera at St. Anne’s.

The atmosphere at the Carmelite Monastery was one of serene prayer and humble service. As the group pray together, Father Bernardo emphasized the importance of relationship with Jesus Christ, describing it as the ultimate treasure, far surpassing material wealth or worldly power. He said the sisters exemplified this dedication through their daily lives of prayer for the people of Hong Kong and beyond, stressing that “Every new day is a gift from God.”

Sister Frances shared the inspiring history of their order, highlighting its beginnings with the hermits of Mount Carmel and the establishment of the Hong Kong monastery in 1937. The simple yet profound life of the Carmelite sisters radiated a peaceful joy grounded in faith.

The group continued their pilgrimage at St. Anne’s Church, where Brother Perera offered a warm tour and a shared lunch. The day culminated in a Mass, honouring Christ the King. Participants left with a renewed understanding that holiness can be achieved through love and service in everyday life, reminding them that true unity and joy are found in faith and community.                                                                                  SE/Facebook
