HONG KONG (SE): At the conclusion of the December 8 Mass celebrating the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception—an occasion that honoured the Jubilarians of the Diocese of Hong Kong and inaugurated the 80th anniversary of the diocese and 185 years of evangelisation—Cardinal Stephen Chow, S.J., unveiled the new diocesan emblem at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Caine Road.
The design symbolises shared faith through joined hands and features a central abstract figure evoking Christ with outstretched arms standing atop a mountain, offering solace to a suffering world. Its blue colour evokes the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The emblem, designed by Jeff Chan, was the winner of the “Synodality–The Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong Emblem Design Competition”, held earlier this year, which attracted 79 submissions from 60 individuals of diverse ages and backgrounds.
