HONG KONG (SE): On January 28, the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life issued a letter to consecrated individuals worldwide, expressing gratitude for their commitment to the gospel and their role as a beacon of hope amid trials. The letter highlights how consecrated people, in various contexts marked by conflict, instability, and marginalisation, demonstrate a prophetic presence that offers dignity and support to those who are suffering.
The letter, titled “Prophecy of presence: consecrated life where dignity is wounded and faith is tested”, emphasises that their calling is not passive; it reflects active hope and engagement, promoting peace, dialogue, and justice. Different forms of consecrated life—apostolic, contemplative, secular, and eremitic—are acknowledged for their unique contributions to fostering a sense of community and healing
Furthermore, the letter underscores the importance of being artisans of peace, urging consecrated individuals to remain committed and steadfast even when their efforts yield little immediate recognition. “We entrust each and every one of you to the Lord, that he may make you steadfast in hope and gentle in heart, capable of remaining, of consoling, of beginning anew: and thus to be, in the Church and in the world, a prophecy of presence and a seed of peace,” the letter concluded.
The letter was signed by prefect, Consolata Sister Simona Brambilla, pro-prefect Ángel Fernández Cardinal Artime, and secretary, Franciscan Sister Tiziana Merletti,.
