How can I prove my love to Jesus?

I  can’t actually 100 per cent prove my love to Jesus, because I am a sinner, but I can say that I have faith in Jesus Christ and I am forever thankful to him for all his blessings and guidance. For me the only way I can prove my love for Jesus is doing good things for others because I believe that whatever I’ve done to my neighbours, I did it to him. I may not offer financial nor material things to others, but I can help by prayers. Prayers can move mountains and can touch every one’s heart.

We can show our love for Jesus by living out his commandments especially loving him and his people. If people can see his grace in our lives, they will follow him. For example, we can look at challenges as a learning opportunity for us to become stronger and better as God is with us wherever we go. In this way, we can encourage others to become positive in both good and bad times.

I prove my love to Jesus by, first, following his commandments. We can’t love God but ignore his commands. God cannot be mocked. He who made ears and eyes can certainly hear and see the things that we do. Jesus proved his love for the Father by obeying all his instructions, even to death on the cross: the most shameful death of his time.

Second, we can help finding lost souls by telling other people about God’s Words. If our friends or someone we know has a question about Jesus or the Bible, we need to share our knowledge with them.

Third, we need to give as giving is an expression of love. You cannot have true love for someone and without sacrificing anything for the person. So you cannot love God without giving to him or working for his kingdom. It is a proof of your love for him. If you love him, you will give without being coerced to do so. It will be joyful for you to do so. God expects you to give willingly, cheerfully and bountifully—it is a test of the sincerity of your love.

Jesus is a teacher to everyone. He is continuously molding us. Even though almost all of us are struggling to become holy, he is always there to help and guide us. We know we stumble and fall, suffer for the consequences, but through him we still stay strong and upright. He patiently loves, purifies and cleanses us. We are able to know him personally through reading scriptures, obeying and following his teachings. And it indeed makes me feel joy. My love for him becomes solid. Joining the Missionary Families of Christ makes me feel complete as a follower of Jesus. Now as I am serving in the Church, community and my brothers and sisters, I realise that my love for him never ends.

To prove my love to Jesus, I try to discern and follow his will for my life. I am making my faith and foundation strong through reading the Gospel and contemplating on his words as my guiding light every day.
