Lenten Season is where people commemorate the sufferings and death of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is the springtime for our souls. This is the time of the year for praying, fasting and alms-giving.
In observance of the Lenten Season, my family and I abstain from eating meat starting on Ash Wednesday until Good Friday. We pray, reflect, and meditate on our Lord Jesus Christ’s passion and death to prepare ourselves.

Lent is the time to forgive myself and others in preparation for the death and resurrection of Christ. I will limit my time in social media and read only the information, which will help me prepare for Lent and everyday living like recollections online since this is the only thing we can do with the present situation. We will try to be good listeners, offer advice if needed, but simply be there to listen. We will also encourage others to join online prayer meetings and Rosary.

I grew up in a religious family. I have witnessed a life lived by faith and a strong belief in God. Lenten season in the Church calendar is when we prepare ourselves for Jesus’ suffering, death and resurrection. This is when we get help to grow in faith and become spiritually stronger. I prepare myself by giving more time to reflect on words and deeds. Reflection allows me to realise how I was as a person and as God’s follower. I need to think if I am working well for God. If not, how I can be a better follower of God.

Lenten season is a time for us to examine ourselves. Before going to bed, we may need to ask ourselves how many people we have helped and how many people we have hurt, and whether we have said sorry to someone or just stuck with our pride. In short, we can only do this when we can find a quiet place where there will be no interruptions, no gadgets beside us so we can focus on our conversation with God. At first, it is hard to start, but when we focus on our goal in this Lent to reflect on how God makes things possible, we can then have a pleasant conversation with God.
We can feel his presence by telling him what is in our hearts, by asking questions. We may not see him, but we can feel that he is beside us. Every person has his or her burden to carry, but we get closer to him through those burdens. We should also pray for others, especially those who ask for our prayers, do voluntary work, help one another, stay away from gossip and observe fasting.

I prepare my Lenten season spiritually by offering more prayers to God. I surrender my will to Him by faith and trust. We all have many struggles in life. However, with faith and trust in God, I believe everything will work out in his time and in accordance with his will. I try my best to keep doing good things and serve people with good intentions. When I wake up, and during my free time, I do more prayers and take time to thank God for another life and another opportunity. I realise that when we pray with our heart, God hears us, and Mama Mary helps us. Prayer is the best medicine. Moreover, do not worry, but just believe and maintain a positive mindset.
I have a habit of talking to God most of the time, especially in the darkest time of my life. When I faced uncertainties, fear would suddenly enter me. In this case, I will talk to God first before telling my trusted friends. God will provide good friends when we surrender to him first. Lenten is all about love, hope and trust.
The world is now wrestling with the pandemic and the war between Russia and Ukraine. Let us focus and unite with Our Lord by reflecting on his passion, death and resurrection in this Lent. At the same time, we must pray for the Lord to take pity on the world’s situation. This is how I will spend my Lenten season—more prayers and fasting.
