I have a lot of things to focus on during Lent, especially to evaluate my inner self, but the most important virtue that struck me is love. For me love is part of our life, not only for our family, but also for the people around us and the people we meet on a daily basis. As the Lord Jesus Christ always reminds us to love our neighbour as ourselves, we as human beings must apply it every day, even when we face difficulties and struggles in life. God the Father, whose love knows no bounds, allowed His Son to be a living sacrifice for mankind. And Jesus Christ, who sacrificed himself for the forgiveness of our sins and taught us lessons to apply in our daily lives.
As human beings, we cannot escape sins even if we want to avoid them, so we must repent every day for our shortcomings because God knows everything we encounter in our lives.
— Ana Mae Bentulan

Actually, I want to focus on patience and hope as much as possible every day, not just during Lent. Because I believe that many are in a desperate situation, and I want to share in any way I can this hope that our Lord Jesus Christ has revealed to us through his death and resurrection. Through Jesus he has given us new life and a living hope. Patience is needed to get through every difficult situation and difficult people in our lives. Just as God is patient with us in all our stubbornness and weakness, we should be patient with one another every day of our lives.

During this Lenten season, I am trying to re-evaluate myself and see what I need to focus on and correct my wrongdoings in life. I want to draw closer to the Lord. The virtues I want to focus on are forgiveness and helping others. The Lord forgives me, so who am I to be unforgiving? In addition, as part of my Lenten journey, I will practise prayer, fasting, almsgiving, and take time to reflect on the agony of Jesus and his death on the cross to atone for my sins. I want to strengthen my faith and become a better person.

The Lenten period is a time to reflect and recollect. It is a chance for us to make our faith stronger and develop virtues that make us more spiritually rich. This Lenten period, I want to focus on humility and forgiveness. Humility is one of the most important virtues to develop in ourselves. We should recognise our limitations and weaknesses. We should always bear in mind that without the grace from our God, we will not succeed in life. Forgiveness is letting go of our hurts and forgive those who hurt us. It will give us peace in our relationships with our family and others. Peaceful life will make our journey lighter and happier. As I go through this holy season, I pray for the courage, consistency and strength to keep these virtues not only during Lent but throughout my life.

Virtues that I want to reflect this Lent are gratitude and humility. As a Christian Catholic, I’m so grateful to Jesus for sacrificing his life for us. Grateful enough that despite my sinfulness God is always there to forgive, love and guide me in everything I do. And that by his grace I am humble to accept the mistakes I made… intentionally or not and ask his forgiveness and mercy.
