Rooted in Chinese culture, in communion with the universal Church

How can formation help Chinese Catholics live their faith authentically while embracing their cultural and national identity?

(SE): In his presentation for the November 5 centenary conference at the Pontifical Urbaniana University, Cardinal Stephen Chow, S.J., highlighted sincere dialogue, empathetic listening and prayerful discernment as essential to forming clergy, religious and laypeople.

The gathering marked 100 years since Pope Pius XI consecrated six Chinese bishops in St Peter’s Basilica on October 28, 1926. Looking to the future, Cardinal Chow encouraged an approach that respects differences, seeks the common good and deepens communion with the universal Church.
