On March 7, the Jesus Hug Cantonese Children’s Faith Group from the Diocese of East Anglia, the United Kingdom, embarked on a Lenten pilgrimage to Ely, which was joined by a total of 38 participants, including children and their families.
The pilgrimage began at the Anglican Ely Cathedral, a significant ecclesiastical site where the presence of Roman Catholic Bishop Peter Collins as Ecumenical Canon at the Cathedral stands as a sign of the enduring relationship between Christian communities in the region.
Participants engaged in various reflections, such as walking the prayer labyrinth, contemplating salvation history under the painted ceiling, and reflecting on Christ’s light in the Octagon Tower. They also impressed by the image about Mary Magdalene’s encounter with the Risen Lord celebrating the joy of the Resurrection.

The group moved on to St. Etheldreda’s Catholic Church, learning about Saint Etheldreda’s legacy and her commitment to God. Children and their families prayed before her relics, entrusting their intentions to the Lord.
The group expressed their sincere gratitude to Canon John and to Canon David Finnegan, parish priest of St Etheldreda’s, for their kind guidance and support throughout the day.
In this year, marking the 50th anniversary of the erection of the Diocese of East Anglia, the visit carried particular significance.
