HONG KONG (SE): The Canossian Daughters of Charity held a Thanksgiving Mass on September 12 to honour Sister Dorothy Cheng’s 60th anniversary and Sister Catherine Wu and Sister Rita Pedretti’s 70th anniversary of religious life, in the Canossian Missions Chapel, Caine Road.
The Mass was presided over by Jesuit Father Robert Ng and concelebrated by Father Joseph Chan, vicar general, Father Francesco and Father Piero. In attendance were Sisters of the congregation, Lay Canossians, as well as many former students and friends of the jubilarians.
In a touching gesture, Sister Cheng’s family travelled from the United States and Sister Wu’s family from Singapore to join the celebration and offered their blessings—a precious demonstration of enduring support.
In his homily, Father Ng encouraged the Sisters to imitate the obedience and humility of the Blessed Virgin Mary, to follow faithfully Christ on the Cross, and to live out the spirit of service and sacrifice.
After the homily, the three jubilarians, with hearts full of gratitude, once again renewed their vows of chastity, poverty, and obedience in the presence of the Church’s clergy and the Provincial Superior, Sister Virginia Wong, reaffirming their unwavering commitment.
During the thanksgiving rite, Sister Cheng expressed her gratitude for the gift of vocation from God, the formation she received from the congregation, the support of her community Sisters, and the love and encouragement of family and friends.
The Canossian Daughters of Charity thank all relatives and friends for their presence and ask for continued prayers for the sisters’ faithful service to the Lord, as well as prayers for vocations to religious life.
